STAUNTON - The Lewis and Clark Trailblazers finished with a team score of 320 to cement their third place finish at Timber Lakes golf course in Staunton Saturday, Oct. 14.

Blackburn took top honors in their own tournament with a score of 311, followed closely by Fontbonne University at 312. Iowa Wesleyan College and MacMurray rounded out the field shooting 324 and 326 respectively.

Trailblazers Marc Berdala and Alec Hilliard both received medals. Berdala shot an individual score of 73, the lowest round of the tournament, to earn medalist honors. He was followed closely by Trenton Easley of Blackburn who produced a 74 for second place. Hilliard finished fourth with a score of 76. Gavin Grote shot an 85 and Will Spencer an 86 to complete L&C team scoring.

“The day was a sunny one, but breezy, and the players had a hard time gauging the wind,” Coach Gerald Mozur said. “This made the course more challenging. Marc's and Alec's scores were really good under those conditions.”

The team now looks ahead to their final tournament at Mineral Area this Monday, Oct. 16. http://lcstage.lc.edu/athletics/mens/golf/
