Lewis and Clark works to ensure a safe environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors. The College’s Department of Campus Security and Risk Management has primary responsibility for campus security and safety. Security officers patrol the campus by motor vehicle and on foot 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
The Campus Security office located at the north entrance of campus, works closely with all members of the College community and with local law enforcement agencies. The Security Office is alerted of all 9-1-1 calls as received by the Madison County 9-1-1 service. To report a crime or criminal activity, contact the Security Department or the Director of Security. Call Campus Security at (618) 468-2300 or Dial “0” from a campus phone or use one of the blue security phones in the parking lot.
Incident Reports should be completed by individuals alleging a violation of the Student Code of Conduct by a Lewis and Clark student or who have a concern about a student.
Concern Reports should be completed by individuals who have a concern about a student. Concerns about students may arise through observations of student behavior or appearance, such as, is the student tearful/crying, socially isolated, evidencing mood swings, intimidating to others? Other concerns arise when a student tells you about a significant issue such as a loss, relationship problems, problems of abuse or legal problems.

Concern Reports are available to the College community via these links. Reports are submitted to the Vice President of Academic Affairs for response. The Vice President works with counseling, security, and other staff and agencies in fact-gathering and responding.
Counseling Services are provided for victims or witnesses of crimes. Counseling services may be reached through the Campus Security office or by calling Counseling at (618) 468-4125. All services through the Campus Security and Counseling Offices are confidential.
Additional security and safety information is published annually in "The Trail Blazer: A Campus Guide for Students, Faculty & Staff." This book is distributed semi-annually to all registered students.
Security and Safety Educational Programs - Campus Security will provide training to faculty and staff on the protocols for responding to students in distress. Educational information including services provided by the security department, counseling services, outside agencies, periodic displays, and forums is available.
